CMA LAW: Press Release: The Capital Markets Authority Welcomes the Delegation of (Athar) Summer Program of the Union of Investment Companies

Kuwait, August 5, 2026 – As part of its initiatives stemming from its national project to promote financial inclusion and investment awareness, the Capital Markets Authority (CMA) has welcomed today a delegation from (Athar), a qualifying training program launched by the Union of Investment Companies for the purpose of qualifying national young cadres and linking academic education to practical application. The delegation included students participating in the program, in addition to relevant representatives from the Union.
The one-day field visit to the CMA is part of the (Athar) program initiatives, which involves visiting the leading supervisory bodies and institutions operating in the financial sector and observing their roles and operational mechanisms closely. The visit included a tour of the CMA’s headquarters and a presentation providing an overview of the Capital Markets Authority, its establishment, objectives as stipulated in its establishment Law, particularly on the regulation of securities activities, enhancing transparency, and protecting market participants. The presentation then detailed the roles and responsibilities of the CMA's various sectors, its competences related to legislative, regulatory, supervisory, and oversight aspects of securities activities, as well as awareness campaigns, media outreach, external cooperation, and the internal work environment.
The presentation was delivered by a team representing the CMA's key sectors and organizational units, including:
• Ms. Badryah Al-Salem – Awareness, Public Relations, and Communication Office
• Ms. Rana Al-Walayti – Managing Director Technical Office
• Mr. Waleed Al-Owaiyesh – Director of the Supervision Sector Technical Office
• Mr. Khaled Al-Yaseen –Markets Sector Technical Office
• Dr. Jenan Al-Mekhiled – Legal Affairs Sector Technical Office
• Ms. Fatemah Al-Hulail – Human Resources Department
This visit reflects the CMA’s commitment to its social responsibility in promoting financial inclusion, supporting qualification initiatives, and strengthening communication with various national entities, particularly educational and training institutions, in line with its focus on investing in human capital. It also falls within CMA’s ongoing efforts to support national cadres and provide them with the knowledge and skills necessary to keep pace with the rapid developments in the capital markets and to align educational outcomes with the labor market.
At the conclusion of the visit, the delegation of the Union of Investment Companies and the trainees of the "Athar" program expressed their gratitude and appreciation to the CMA for their warm hospitality, emphasizing that these meetings directly contribute to improving their skills and preparing them for work experiences in the financial and investment sectors.

The Capital Markets Authority (CMA) of Kuwait was established pursuant to Law No. 7 of 2010 Regarding the Establishment of the Capital Markets Authority and Regulating Securities Activities, and its amendments, approved by the Kuwaiti Parliament in February 2010. Under this Law, the CMA regulates and supervises securities activities, ensures transparency, fairness, efficiency, and observes listed companies’ implementation of Corporate Governance regulations. The CMA also protects investors from unfair practices and violations of the CMA's Law.
Furthermore, the Law stipulates the supervision of mergers, acquisitions, and disclosure operations. The CMA also aims to provide awareness programs pertaining to securities activities.
