Title: The Capital Markets Authority Participates in a Workshop at Abdullah Al-Salem University Titled “Professionalism and Ethics in the Work Environment”
Kuwait, May 14, 2024 – As part of its efforts aiming to raise the social awareness and meet the aspirations of its national project of enhancing financial literacy and financial inclusion, the Capital Markets Authority (CMA) participated in a workshop titled “Professionalism and Ethics in the Work Environment” organized by Abdullah Al-Salem University on Tuesday May 7, 2024. Mr. Abdulrahman Al-Failakawi – Director of Markets Surveillance Department presented a lecture titled “Capital Markets Sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibilities” in coordination with Dr. Omar Ali – Professor of “Professionalism and Work Environment Ethics” course at the University.
The workshop began with welcoming words from Prof. Moudhi Al-Humoud – Chairman of the Founding Board and Prof. Ali Al-Mutairi – Acting Vice President for Academic Affairs and Evaluation and Member of the Founding Board. The faculty member at the College of Law at Kuwait University and the Secretary-General of Kuwait Anti-Corruption Authority (Nazaha) has also presented a lecture titled “Mechanisms of Integrity and Transparency in the State of Kuwait”. This workshop witnessed the attendance of a large number of the University’s faculty members and associates from students.
Undoubtedly, this participation is considered a remarkable step into promoting communication between the academic and professional sectors, and an opportunity to shed light on important topics of strategic value, such as professionalism and ethical standards in the work environment. The workshop aimed to raise awareness of the importance of moral and professional practices in the financial markets, in addition to promoting transparency and integrity in this vital aspect of the country’s economy.
The CMA thanks Abdullah Al-Salem University and for its efforts to link the academic curricula with the actual work environment in various sectors, and for hosting such important events. It also appreciates the organizing efforts made to reach all participants, reaffirming its full commitment to active participation in such initiatives which contribute to raising awareness and development in our various fields. The CMA also urges everyone to adhere to the highest standards of professionalism and ethics standards in order to enhance confidence and stability in our financial markets.

The Capital Markets Authority (CMA) of Kuwait was established pursuant to Law No. 7 of 2010 Regarding the Establishment of the Capital Markets Authority and Regulating Securities Activities, and its amendments, approved by the Kuwaiti Parliament in February 2010. Under this Law, the CMA regulates and supervises securities activities, ensures transparency, fairness, efficiency, and observes listed companies’ implementation of Corporate Governance regulations. The CMA also protects investors from unfair practices and violations of the CMA's Law.
Furthermore, the Law's provisions stipulate the supervision of mergers, acquisitions, and disclosure operations. The CMA also aims to provide awareness programs related to securities activities.
