Kuwait, 14th October 2014 – The Capital Markets Authority launched on Tuesday 14/10/2014 its integrated awareness workshops program which lasts until the end of this year.
This program includes weekly awareness workshops held every Tuesday at 12:30. Each workshop tackles an issue related to the CMA Activities. The CMA was keen to start with a general workshop about "Awareness and Capital Markets".
The CMA hopes that the workshop has shed light on its different awareness workshops, and has identified the awareness needs of investors and licensed persons. The CMA would also like to point to the fact that this initiative is part of an integrated awareness strategy that will be accompanied with and followed by other initiatives which include various awareness programs regarding important points about securities' activities and different related legislations.
The CMA would like to thank all the participants for their attendance, and hopes for further future cooperation. It welcomes their suggestions and opinions concerning the various topics, whether related to the general activities of the CMA or the awareness activities in particular.
Clarification to Editors:
The Capital Markets Authority was established pursuant to Law No. 7/2010, approved by the Kuwaiti Parliament in February 2010, and amended by Law No. 108/2014. Pursuant to the Law, the Authority shall regulate and supervise the securities activities, achieve transparency and fairness, oblige the listed companies to execute the Corporate Governance Principles, and protect the investors from the unfair practices which violate the Authority's Law.
Furthermore, the Law's provisions stipulate the supervision of the merger, acquisition, and disclosure operations. The Authority also aims at providing awareness programmes related to securities activities.
