Kuwait, 10th September 2014 - The Capital Markets Authority has invited the concerned parties to exchange opinions in order to enhance cooperation and achieve mutual goals. The parties are as follows:
- Kuwait Chamber of Commerce & Industry
- Kuwait Stock Exchange Committee
- Union of Investment Companies
- Union of Kuwaiti Banks
- Kuwait Association of Accountants and Auditors
- Kuwait Economic Society
- Kuwait Stock Exchange Company
- Kuwait Clearing Company
- Brokerage companies operating in Kuwait Stock Exchange
This is a step towards achieving communication with the parties concerned with Law No. (7) of 2010. Mutual issues shall be discussed, and opinions shall be exchanged to accomplish the targeted goals and benefit the national economy. The meetings will start next week, and the Authority anticipates achieving all the goals which serve the mutual interests. Such meetings are the beginning of a new era, and future meetings are yet to come.
Clarification to Editors:
The Capital Markets Authority was established pursuant to Law No. 7/2010, approved by the Kuwaiti Parliament in February 2010. Pursuant to the Law, the Authority shall regulate and supervise the securities activities, achieve transparency and fairness, oblige the listed companies to execute the Corporate Governance Principles, and protect the investors from the unfair practices which violate the Authority's Law.
Furthermore, the Law's provisions stipulate the supervision of the merger, acquisition, and disclosure operations. The Authority also aims at providing awareness programmes related to securities activities.
