Title: Experts from the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission in a Workshop Organized by Capital Markets Authority to its Employees
Kuwait, 19th April 2014 – In line with its efforts to attract international experts in the fields of supervising and regulating the capital markets, and increasing the expertise of the CMA and Kuwait Stock Exchange employees, and in cooperation with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, the CMA organizes a workshop entitled "Capital Markets Regulation" from 21/4/2014 to 23/4/2014 with the participation of speakers from the SEC and almost 100 employees. This workshop is considered an opportunity for exchanging information related to developing and regulating capital markets. The CMA aims through this workshop to gain benefit from the international best practices in this field, in particular the ones related to the wok of the licensed persons, in addition to strengthening relationships between the CMA and international supervisory entities. The workshop shall tackle topics related to markets' regulation such as corporate governance, money laundering, disclosure, listing, investment funds, merger and acquisition, brokers, and international cooperation for developing capital markets. The workshop will also discuss case studies regarding the unfavorable practices in the markets, in addition to enforcement cases.
It is worth mentioning that the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission is a leading institution in organizing this kind of workshops, which are organized regularly to different supervisory entities around the world.
