Title: Capital Markets Authority Launches its Awareness Programs for 2019/2020
Kuwait City- 30 October 2019. The Capital Markets Authority launched on Monday its awareness programs for the current quarter of the fiscal year 2019/2020 through holding the first awareness workshop entitled “Automated Investment Portfolio Reporting System for Securities through CMA’s Electronic Portal "at Khalid Al-Kharafi Hall, at Boursa Kuwait Headquarters.
The workshop was presented by:
- Mr. Sulaiman Hamad Almousa - Director of Market Surveillance Department.
- Mr. Ibrahim Abdulrazzaq Al-Ibrahim - Director of Market Operations Surveillance Section.
- Mr. Mohamed Mubarak Al-Saeed - Financial Analyst in the Market Surveillance Department.
- Mr. Osamah Saleh Alansari - Financial Analyst in the Market Surveillance Department.
- Ms. Fedhah Fawzi Almansour - Chief Analyst in the IT Department.
The workshop discussed the automated investment portfolio reporting system for securities through CMA’s electronic portal; it commenced by an overview of the system which contains the scope of its users, all licensed persons practicing the activity of "Investment Portfolio Manager".
The speakers then reviewed the forms of periodic reports of investment portfolios, and explained the mechanism of completing their data and meeting their requirements. These reports are divided between: investment portfolios report which were established or closed, investment portfolios report by licensed person, trading report of employees and board members of the licensed person, trading report of investment portfolios clients on securities issued by the licensed person or the parent company or subsidiary companies or associates, and a trading report of clients of foreign investment portfolios (non-Kuwaiti). This was followed by answering the audience's inquiries and questions.
It is worth noting that the implementation of this system will start on an experimental basis between November3rd , 2019 until the 28th of the same month, to be followed by the stage of operational implementation from January 2020.
As CMA launches its awareness programs by holding this workshop for the third quarter of the current fiscal year, it draws the attention of the concerned and interested parties in its activities to a number of events including those programs whose implementation dates will be announced consecutively, it also welcomes all their suggestions and inquiries related to its various activities in general, and awareness-raising in particular.

The Capital Markets Authority was established pursuant to Law No. 7/2010, approved by the Kuwaiti Parliament in February 2010. Pursuant to the Law, the CMA shall regulate and supervise the securities activities, achieve transparency and fairness, observe listed companies’ execution of Corporate Governance regulations, and protect investors from unfair practices which violate the CMA's Law.
Furthermore, the Law's provisions stipulate the supervision of mergers, acquisitions, and disclosure operations. The CMA also aims to provide awareness programs related to securities activities.
