Title: CMA Concludes its First Awareness Program of 2017
Kuwait, February 21, 2017 - CMA concluded on Tuesday February 21, 2017 the events of its first awareness program for 2017 through an awareness workshop which covered “Early warning indicators relevant to securities activities” at the second floor in the Market Building in Khaled Al-Kharafi Hall.
The workshop covered various aspects, as the most important being:
• Importance of early warning indicators.
• Economic Indicators.
• Indicators related to combined financial positions of listed companies in Boursa Kuwait
• Indicators related to the activity of Boursa Kuwait
• General Index
The CMA representatives in the final workshop were as follows:
- Dr. Mahmoud A. Bushehri - Director of Studies & Capital Markets Developments Department.
- Mr. Khaled Alsaqer – Director of Awareness Office
The workshop began by clarifying the importance of early warning indicators in securities activity for decision makers, businessmen and investors. Then it was followed by the explanation of the important economic indicators which affect the securities activities as the local total non-oil outcome, money supply, oil prices, inflation percentage, credit facilities and others, in addition to displaying a quarterly comparison of those indicators.
On the occasion of concluding the first awareness program of the current year, CMA would like to give thanks and appreciation for all concerned participants in its events, and welcomes at the same time any suggestions and opinions. It should be noted that it is in the process of preparing expanded awareness activities which will take place next March and it will be announced soon.
Clarification to Editors
The Capital Markets Authority was established pursuant to Law No. 7/2010, approved by the Kuwaiti Parliament in February 2010, and amended by Law No. 108/2014. Pursuant to the Law, the Authority shall regulate and supervise the securities activities, achieve transparency and fairness, observe listed companies’ execution of Corporate Governance Regulations, and protect investors from unfair practices which violate the Authority's Law.
Furthermore, the Law's provisions stipulate the supervision of mergers, acquisitions, and disclosure operations. The Authority also aims to provide awareness programs related to securities activities.
