Title: CMA Starts its Last Awareness Program of 2016
Kuwait, November 29, 2016 - CMA organized the last awareness event for the year 2016 on Tuesday November 29, 2016. The first awareness workshop was held at the Market building in Khaled Al-Kharafi Hall at 12:30 p.m. The discussed topic was the “Listing Rules”.
CMA’s representatives in the opening workshop were as follows:

The workshop covered Module Twelve of the Executive Bylaws of Law No. (7) of 2010 and its amendment, in particular the topic of “Listing Rules” through various aspects, such as:
- General provisions and scope of application of these rules. Speakers emphasized that the rules apply on securities listed in the Exchange or securities requested to be listed the Exchange. They explained that the provisions are applicable on listed shareholding companies and companies that applied for listing in the Exchange. They also discussed financial statements of listed companies, listing requirements and delisting cases.
- Listing shares of Kuwaiti public shareholding companies in the main market, listing shares of Kuwaiti closed shareholding companies in the main market, and the terms and conditions of both.
- Listing shares of Kuwaiti public shareholding companies in the parallel market, listing shares of Kuwaiti closed shareholding companies in the parallel market, and the terms and conditions of both.
- Listing shares of non-Kuwaiti companies in the main market, their terms and conditions, and any required forms, documents and information.
- Joint listing of Kuwaiti companies’ shares in Exchanges outside the State of Kuwait, and relevant terms.
- Transfer of companies’ shares listing in between the main market and the parallel market, and relevant terms and conditions.
- Delisting of listed shareholding companies’ shares in the Exchange, its cases, and the obligations arising from such procedure.
- Voluntary delisting of listed shareholding companies from the Exchange, and its terms and conditions.
It should be noted that the program is limited to three awareness workshops. The second workshop will be on December 6th, and it will cover “voluntary delisting of listed companies”. The last workshop will be on December 27th. A comparison between indices of applicable stock prices in Boursa Kuwait and best alternatives will be conducted.
A public invitation is directed to the public to attend these workshops. The CMA welcomes all questions and queries on various issues related to its awareness activities in general.
Clarification to Editors
The Capital Markets Authority was established pursuant to Law No. 7/2010, approved by the Kuwaiti Parliament in February 2010, and amended by Law No. 108/2014. Pursuant to the Law, the Authority shall regulate and supervise the securities activities, achieve transparency and fairness, observe listed companies’ execution of Corporate Governance Regulations, and protect investors from unfair practices which violate the Authority's Law.
Furthermore, the Law's provisions stipulate the supervision of mergers, acquisitions, and disclosure operations. The Authority also aims to provide awareness programs related to securities activities.
