Title: Press Release: The Capital Markets Academy Signs Memorandum of Understanding with Kuwait College of Science and Technology (KCST)
Kuwait, September 12, 2024 – The Capital Markets Academy signed a memorandum of understanding with Kuwait College of Science and Technology (KCST) on Thursday September 12, 2024. In the presence of representatives from both entities, the MoU was signed by Mr. Abdulaziz Al-Reshaid Al-Bader - General Manager of the Academy -, and Prof. Khalid Al-Begain - President of the College -. The signing ceremony was attended by Mr. Abdul-Aziz Al-Meshal – Chairman and Members of the Board of Trustees of the Academy.
Moreover, in its pursuit of actively contributing to raising the competency of capital market participants in State of Kuwait, the CMA seeks to upgrade its Academy to the ranks of the advanced financial academies. This will be achieved through various initiatives, such as enhancing cooperation in training and research aspects to qualify and upgrade the efficiency of the personnel working in the financial sector through programs for developing financial investment skills, in addition to relying on the latest research and utilizing the best international practices followed by similar academies.
It should be noted that the memorandum of understanding between the two parties is part of their desire to set a framework for mutual cooperation to enhance public awareness of securities activities and of the benefits, risks and obligations arising from investments in this activity and encourage their development, in addition to serving the development directions of the Country derived from a lofty vision to transform into a leading regional financial hub with a conducive investment environment that owns the required components. It also contributes to achieve the objectives of CMA’s project of enhancing financial inclusion and investment awareness at various society segments, which includes the university education sector and the subsequent need for mutual cooperation and consultation, especially given the renowned expertise possessed by the mentioned University, particularly through its training center with strategic partnerships in qualifications fields of cybersecurity and technology science and in cooperation with world-ranking entities, including universities and leading training institutions. . This will certainly contribute to upgrade the Academy’s training programs to the ranks of the international training institutions.

The Capital Markets Authority (CMA) of Kuwait was established pursuant to Law No. 7 of 2010 Regarding the Establishment of the Capital Markets Authority and Regulating Securities Activities, and its amendments, approved by the Kuwaiti Parliament in February 2010. Under this Law, the CMA regulates and supervises securities activities, ensures transparency, fairness, efficiency, and observes listed companies’ implementation of Corporate Governance regulations. The CMA also protects investors from unfair practices and violations of the CMA's Law.
Furthermore, the Law's provisions stipulate the supervision of mergers, acquisitions, and disclosure operations. The CMA also aims to provide awareness programs related to securities activities.
