Kuwait, March 6, 2021 - As part of the Capital Markets Authority’s (CMA) continuous efforts to ensure business continuity and apply the best international practices in this field, the CMA has obtained the ISO 22301 certificate. This international certificate confirms the CMA’s commitment to applying the highest levels of business continuity management. This certificate covers all CMA’s operations, as well as its primary and backup data centers.
The Chairman of CMA’s Board of Commissioners, Prof. Ahmad Al-Melhem, said that the CMA followed an organized and effective approach to achieve this accomplishment, which is the ability to manage instability, restore vital operations, and maintain basic operations in the face of emergency events. The CMA also carried out periodic tests to ensure its readiness and constantly improve the business continuity program approach.
Al-Melhem confirmed that the review conducted by international auditors from Bureau Veritas confirmed the CMA’s compliance with ISO 22301 standards. The review was conducted in two stages: the first stage took place from July 30 to 31, 2023, during which the documents were reviewed and their compliance with technical requirements was verified. The second stage was during the period from 19 to 23 November 2023, which focused on ensuring the implementation of technical requirements in the CMA’s work environment.
Al-Melhem pointed out that obtaining this certificate enhances the confidence of investors and partners in the Kuwaiti financial market, and confirms the CMA’s commitment to providing its services with the highest levels of efficiency and safety, even in times of crisis.
