Kuwait, 18th November 2014 – As part of the CMA's awareness workshops program which lasts until the end of this year, the 6th workshop of this program was held at 12:30 on Tuesday 18/11/2014. The workshop was entitled "Procedures of Nomination for Positions, and Registration of Positions Required to be Registered". The workshop, which lasted for an hour and a half, took place at Kuwait Stock Exchange. It tackled the procedures of nomination for board of directors' membership at the licensed person starting from announcing it, then submitting the applications and studying them, and finally marking them in the CMA's register. The workshop also tackled the procedures of registering the positions that require registration. The speakers specified such positions and the procedures of their registration and study, in addition to the procedures of amending the data through two main aspects:
- Nomination mechanism for board of directors' members
- Registration mechanism for positions required to be registered
Participants included persons concerned with the issues of the securities' activities, and the CMA was represented by the Director of the Licensing and Registration Department, the Director of the Awareness Department, and a representative from the legal Affairs Sector.
At the end, the CMA would like to express its gratitude to the participants for their active participation and efforts that led to the success of this event. It looks forward to further mutual cooperation, and it would also like to note that any opinions and suggestions regarding the different CMA activities are welcomed, in particular the awareness-related matters.

The Capital Markets Authority was established pursuant to Law No. 7/2010, approved by the Kuwaiti Parliament in February 2010, and amended by Law No. 108/2014. Pursuant to the Law, the Authority shall regulate and supervise the securities activities, achieve transparency and fairness, oblige the listed companies to execute the Corporate Governance Principles, and protect the investors from the unfair practices which violate the Authority's Law.
Furthermore, the Law's provisions stipulate the supervision of the merger, acquisition, and disclosure operations. The Authority also aims at providing awareness programmes related to securities activities.
